Cut several to the toe, all round the hoof, and fill the cuts with tallow and soap mixed. This consists in a swelling of the first bar of the upper palate. It is cured by rubbing the swelling two or three times a day with half an ounce of alum and the same quantity of double-refined sugar mixed with a little honey.
