No. 430. Powerful llixiure for Fevers.

If the fevĀ«er still continues to increase, it will be proper to take a little more blood from him, and then to have recourse to the following fever-powder. Take of emetic tartar 1 ounce, calcined antimony 2 ounces, calcined hartshorn 1 ounce. Mix, and grind them in a mortar to a fine powder; then put them in a bottle for use. 2 drachms of these powders are a proper dose for a horse. A dose of this powder, with an ounce of nitre, may be given twice or three times a day, in a pint of warm gruel, or to be made into a ball with con- serve of roses. If the fever be violent, and the horse in a raging state, | ounce tincture of opium may be added to each dose of powders.
