: A spiced wine is noticed by Athenaeus under the name of Tpl/uLima. Into the pIpoi vyieivol, or medical wines, drugs, such as horehound, squills, wormwood, and myrtle-berries, were introduced to produce hy- gienic effects. Essential oils were also mixed with wines.
