Eau de vie de Dantzick,(gold water,) was originally made in France by Dr.Bruart. He attributed wonder ful powers to gold in curing stomach difficulties and said it removed any mercury that might be lurking in the system. Shortly after the edict of Nantes, pro mulgated by Louis XIV., the protestants of middle France went to Germany and introduced the water of gold, calling it "Water of Life of Dantzick." Pousse-cafe des Familles derives its name from the fact that it is beneflcial to all ages. It is an exquisite digestive of six of "the finest" in proper proportions. The word is also given to several liqueurs which lie in stratas in the glass presenting a variagated appearance; quite a curiosity to those who have never tried it. Creme de Mbnthe Guaciale,(green or white,) is of great use in summer complaints and as an aid to diges tion. The delicate flavor is obtained from peppermint
