2 minutes; add to this Sj4 gallons of alcohol, 95 per cent; add the following, made into a tincture; 15 grains of crude cassia, 30 grains of Turkey rhubarb,%of a grain of aloe socotrin,%an ounce of oak bark: mace rate for 48 hours in 3 pints of alcohol; color pale or dark yellow. 164. Elixir de Garus. 10 drachms of myrrh.

10 do. aloes. 15 do. cloves. 15 do. nutmegs.

5 ounces of Spanish saffron. 3% do. Ceylon cinnamon.

Ground and cut; macerate for 8 days with 3% gallons ot alcohol, 95 per cent, and 4 gallons of water; distil from off the water ^2/^ gallons of flavored spirit; add 43^ gallons of white plain syrup and 2'gallons of water; color yellow. 165. Elixir de Genievre. lb. of juniper berries, ground; macerate for 8 clays with 3^ gallons of alcohol, 95 per cent, and 2 gallons of water; press, strain and filter; add 4^ gal lons of white plain syrup. 166. Elixir of Long Life. 2 ounces of Zedoary root. 2 do. agaric. 2 do. gentian root.
