and a teaspoonful of the essence of vanilla for flavoring. Some add of a pint of orange flower water. It is slightly colored with coloring. 402. Sighs of Love. 6 lbs. of sugar, and J>iire soft water sufficient to pro duce a gallon of syrup, to which add i pint of rose water and 7 pints of proof spirit; color pale pink. A drop or two(not more) of the essence of ambergris or vanilla improves it. This is a pleasant cordial.

403. Balm of Molucca.

I drachm of mace, shreded. I ounce of cloves, bruised. I gallpn of clean spirit(22 under proof.)

Macerate for a week in a well-corked demijohn or jar, frequently shaking; color with coloring, and add 41/2 lbs. of lump sugar dissolved in 1/0 a gallon of pure soft water. 404. Delight of the Mandarins. 1 gallon of spirit (22 under proof.) % do. pure soft water.

4% lbs. of white sugar (crush small.) %ounce of anisum Chinte, bruised. fn do. ambrette or musk seed, bruised. 54 do. safflower.

Macerate in a carboy or stone jar capable of holding double the quantity, and agitate well every day for 2 weeks. 405. Elephant's Milk. 2 ounces of gum benzoin. I pint of rectified spirits of wine.
