RAWLING'S MIXED DRINKS

139 Pineapple Cordial.

Into an earthen pot put one pineapple, chopped fine one teacupful bar sugar one teacupful water;

let this simmer over a slow fire for about ten minutes; then add

one pint cognac one measure Jamaica rum.

Strain thoroughly and bottle. Keep in a cool place. A wineglassful of this with ice in a long glass of Apollinaris or siphon water is very refreshing.

Port and Egg. Into a wine glass half-filled with port wine break an egg carefully, and serve. This drink has always been considered very nourishing, but some physicians claim that the egg is rendered indi gestible by the spirits after drinking.
