SUMMER BEVERAGES FOR EVENING PARTIES. {See also some Temperance Drinks, page 123.) Cherry Brandy Squash. Put into a large tumbler one wineglass of sportsman's cherry brandy and a good lump of ice, fill three parts full with soda-water; orna ment with slices of lemon, brandy cherries, and a few white heart cherries; dash with Angostura. Serve with a straw. Cherry Drink. {See also pages ii6 and 125.) Take any quantity of cherries free from stalks and pound them in a mortar, with stones and kernels , put into a skillet, and to every pint of pulp add one pint of water; bring to the boil, then strain through a bag or sieve, and to every pint of juice put one pound of loaf sugar, broken small; boil for five minutes, let it stand until cold, then bottle. For a drink i to a wine glass of this compound add an equal quantitv of water. j
