1930 Shake'Em up by Virginia Elliott and Phil D. Stong

CATCHING UP

I

A stiff hooker of gin with the juice of half a lemon and a little hot water. (Too much hot water induces a healthy perspiration and nulli fies the effect.)

II

Half and half, hot water and rye or Scotch. This takes full effect in ten minutes. Serve in a tea-cup, about three-quarters full for an aver age customer.

ni In hot weather, a tumbler of equal parts of grapefruit juice and gin—just enough ice to make the combination palatable.
