1946 Around the World with Jigger Beaker & Flask by Charles H Baker Jr
THE EXOTIC DRINKING BOOK TEQUILA SPECIAL, a la BERT/TA, GARNERED, among other THINGS, in LoVELY TAxco, in FEBRUARY of 1937 This is a shocker from the place of Bertita, across from the cathedral steps in Taxco, already mentioned. It is a cooler as well and Americans will find it very unusual. Take 2 ponies of good tequila, the juice of 1 lime, 1 tsp sugar and 2 dashes of orange bitters. Stir in a collins glass with lots of small ice, then fill with club soda. No garnish except crushed halves of the lime. TEQUILA por MI AMANTE, or TEQUILA for MY BELOVED; MExrco CITY, 1937 This is a prepared beverage requiring patience and from three to four weeks. Tequila, 1 pint Ripe strawberries, 1 qt, cut in halves Wash and stem the berries, put into an airtight jar or bottle, pour on enough tequila to cover. Shut tightly and stand for at least twenty– one days. Strain. . . . This berry process extracts some of the raw taste, adds a rosy dawn touch. Our.Mexican drinks it straight always. We opine that handled in the same way as sloe gin, discoveries would be made. . . . Other fruit like wild cherries, blackberries, and so on could be tried. We honestly consider this one of the most amazing and delicious building-up drinks we've ever known. That year we didn't go from Fusan to Seoul, Korea, to Mukden and then down to Peking, be– cause the JapanesM puppet makers had just started slamming the door, but we did get there on the crack blue train via Tientsin, from Chingwangtao. Yes, we coasted in through the break in the huge breath-taking battlements of the Tartar Wall, to the station by the Water Gate-so vital to the Allies during the Boxer Siege of the Legations in 1900. TIGER'S MILK, what IT Is, & WHY; DATED from PEKING, APRIL 1931
