there are times when it is a good investment to ask him to drink with you. Don't refuse a man a drink if he seems to need it and has spent money with you. Don't trust a doubtful person for drink. If you think his trade is worth anj'thing ask him to have one on you,say that the proprietor allows no credits. If he is a man of sense he will not bother you again,but if you let him get in his little wedge he will run up a bill and never show up again, and when you meet acci dentally and speak about it he will deny owing anything or plead poverty. Don't give a man a drink when he has had enough. Some men don't know when to quit and go home. With them the acme of satiety is reached only as a result of an incompetency of their stomachs to hold Don't be in too great a hurry to find out what a party of gentlemen want as they approach the bar. Don't let them feel that you begrudge the space they occupy while they talk. Sometimes placing glasses of water before them will break the ice on the subject.
