Brown Shake. Put a few lumps of ice in the mixing glass,and pour in two-thirds pony curacoa one-third pony French brandy one toddyspoonful lime juice; shake well, and serve in a French ver mouth glass. Burnt Cognac. Nothing so improves the flavor of after-dinner black coffee as cognac brandy. Some people prefer to float about a teaspoonful on top of the cof fee; but the better way is to burn it with the sugar. Rest a teaspoon con taining one or two lumps of sugar on the rim of the cup, and pour in enough brandy to fill. Set fire to this and stir into the coffee after the flames have died out. 115
