Port Wine. Into a tumbler put half a tablespoonful of sifted sugar, dissolve in half a wineglass of water ; add the thinly pared rind of half a lemon, fill the tumbler one-third full with pounded ice, add one and a half glasses of port wine. Stir with a spoon. Ornament with two slices of lemon, clusters of white grapes, and nuggets of pine apple. Serve with two straws in the glass. Rhine Wine. In a large tumbler dissolve a tablespoonful and a half of icing sugar in a wineglass and a half of water, add a wineglass and a half of Rhine wine, fill the glass with shaved ice, stir well, ornament with fruit and berries in season, and serve with a straw. Sauterne. The same as Catawba Cobbler, using sauterne instead of Catawba. Sherry. Put into a large tumbler two wineglasses of sherry, one tablespoonful of icing sugar, and two or three slices of orange; fill the tumbler with shaved or pounded ice; shake well, and orna ment with berries in season; serve with two straws.
