BURGUNDY

North of the Tweed, introduced the famous Burgundian blood of the grape into the British Isles for the first time. Since that great occasion the vintages of Burgundy have established for themselves a reputa tion throughout the whole civilised world second only perhaps to the Champagnes. The old province of Burgundy itself passed into a memory through the shambles of the French Revolution, but its glorious vines live on. Take a look at the map of France. Over towards her Eastern boundary you will find five ' departements ' that bear the following names :— Cote D'Or, Saone-et-Loire, Yonne, Ain and Aube.
