CATCHING UP

I A. stiff hooker of gin with the juice of half a lemon and a little hot water. (Too much hot water induces a healthy perspiration and nulli– fies the effect.)

II Half and half, hot water and rye or Scotch. This takes full effect in ten minutes. Serve in a tea-cup, about three-quarters full for an aver– age customer.

III In hot weather, a tumbler of equal parts of grapefruit juice and gin-just enough ice to make the combination palatable.
