The Art of Dealing with Hangovers IT'S a grim morning! Someone seems to be using an automatic drill at the base of your skull and two little men seem to be pushing your eyes out from inside your head, whilst the tummy feels as though it is being rotated in a cement mixer. There is no need for alarm, it is nothing more serious than a common or garden hangover. Is there any cure ? No, not really, because it's much too late, the cureshould have been taken overnight before the alcohol was absorbed into the blood-stream. Then you could have taken some aspirins or bicarbonate, or better still, the best remedy was to have been sick. Once an overdose of alcohol finds its way into the arteries it will take time and exercise to remove it, but there are those who swear that a"hair of the leg of the dog that bit me"is a sure remedy. Truthfully, it is not so, because it is just like shovelling more coal on the fire, but what one can do is to bring some relief to the suffering member or organ of the body by blending certain com binations which will make the patient feel better. For example, such ingredients as peppermint, white of egg, milk, or Fernet Branca are good for settling the tummy; Anis and Pernod are a help for headaches; lemon juice for cleaning the palate ; Angostura and soda will send the imprisoned gasses roaring up from the lower regions. To those who play golf the Mashie is the name of the club used for getting out of the"rough Therefore after many years of research in the field of hangover cures, I have named my own special remedy for those who have dined too well, after that particular club.

The Morning Mashie Into the Boston shaker pour the following ingredients:

I measure of Gin ^ measure of Anis
