Toddies
Although these maybe served hotor cold,they are usually hot drinks. Years ago they were known as Grogs. The same method can be used for making all ofthem,and a wide variety ofbase liquors can be used.
HOT TODDY (Use a heavy tumbler)
HOP APPLE TODDY
I measure Whisky or I measure Rum
Mix some castor sugar, a little hot water and the strained juice of a baked apple in a tumbler. Then add a Sherry glass of Calvados and fill up with boiling water. Put a little grated nutmeg on top.
Add 2 or 3 cloves and a slice of lemon. Add a table- spoonful ofwhite or brown sugar. Fill up with boiling water, leaving the spoon in the tumbler.
