(Use large bar glass.)
5 or 6 dashes of gum syrup. Juice of a small lemon. 1 large wineglass of whiskey. Pill the glass half full of shaved ice, shake up well and strain into a large bar glass. Pill up the glass with plain soda water and imbibe while it is lively.

The same as Tom Collins Whiskey, substituting brandy for whiskey.

Take 1 tablespoonful powdered sugar. Add 1 wineglass of brandy. 1/2 do. water. A piece of lemon. Fill the tumbler two-thirds full of ice, broken fine.
